Look how each floor is bigger than the one beneath it. On some of the narrower streets the upper floors almost touched.

Now a magnificent state run 5 star hotel, this palace/fortress shows signs of having withstood cannon fire during earlier battles with the French.

Hondarribia style moorings. 4 posts rise out of the mud and the boats rise and fall on the tide within them. Large blocks of wood keep the boats above the mud.

Every balcony and every garden in every house had dozens of geraniums of every colour. They really did look wonderful.
